Congratulations Steven Rodrigues
Congratulations Steven Rodrigues on your retirement
The men and women of the San Gabriel Police Officers’ Association would like to congratulate Steve Rodrigues on his retirement from the San Gabriel Police Department. Although, this was not how and when Steve wanted to end his law enforcement career, he will now have the opportunity to spend a great deal more time with his wife and three sons.
On the morning of July 17, 2013, then Motor Officer Rodrigues was on his San Gabriel PD motorcycle, on his way to work. Just miles away from home, an unsuspecting motorist turned left in front of him. The collision caused Steve to be ejected from his motorcycle, which resulted in him sustaining serious injuries. Steve made a tremendous comeback, which was much quicker than his doctors had expected. However, his injuries were serious enough that he would not be able to return to full duty. Steve was medically retired on 07-31-15 after 11 years of dedicated service to the community of San Gabriel.
During his career with the San Gabriel Police Department, Steve achieved the status of senior police officer, Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), and motor officer. Steve voluntarily asked to attend DRE school, which is a very demanding and challenging course. But that spoke volumes about how Steve carried himself and pushed himself during his career in law enforcement.
Good luck Steve as you face the new chapters of your life, and the challenges they might bring. But always know that you will have a family of brothers and sisters here at the San Gabriel Police Department who will miss you greatly.
