SGPOA Mourns Fallen Officer Shaun Diamond
The San Gabriel Police Officers’ Association is mourning the passing of Pomona Police Officer and SWAT Team Member, Shaun Diamond. Officer Diamond was shot while serving a search warrant in the early morning hours of Tuesday October 28, in the City of San Gabriel. Officers from the San Gabriel Police Department escorted Officer Diamond as he was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital. Regrettably, Officer Diamond succumbed to his injuries in the early morning hours of Wednesday October 29, with his family and fellow police officers by his side.
When it was time for Officer Diamond to be transferred from Huntington Memorial Hospital to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Officer in Boyle Heights, law enforcement officers gathered from throughout Los Angeles County to show their respect and support. At various points along the route, numerous law enforcement officers stood by their patrol units at attention and saluted the procession as it passed by. In times of crisis, law enforcement officers everywhere gather together in support of each other.
Officer Diamond’s murderer, a known motorcycle gang member was taken into custody without incident shortly after he fired the fatal shot at officers from his front door. He is now facing murder charges.
The men and women of the San Gabriel Police Department are standing by Shaun Diamond's family, and their brothers and sisters from the Pomona Police Department. It is very important that they know they are not alone at this difficult time. The Thin Blue Line cannot be broken.
